This book really lays out the truth of what is happening in Iraq. A Madness born of Hubris.
I found this difficult to get through because of all the DC "innies" I do not know or am not familiar with. I agree with the basic messages in the book and that always makes for a good read. It is a well researched, well organized and well thought out book. If you are into national politics, if you are unhappy with our involvement in the Iraq war, read this book.
If you want to know the who, what and why behind the invasion of Iraq then read (listen) to this book. Informative and knowledgeable. Relatively unbiased account of the events leading up to the major change in policy and strategy that resulted in a push to eliminate Saddam. A critique rather than a criticism of the planning for the war and the expected but unrealized results.
The title says it all. He does go back to the 1st Gulf War, and explains why the supposed mistakes made there led to the reactive mistakes in the 2nd.
Well, pound me over the head a hundred more times so that I finally understand that you think the Iraqi War was stupid.
