Wow. I just finished this book today and it was excellent. I was certain that I had it figured out two or three times but the author kept piling on the surprises. Lots of humor in this book as well so that kept things perking along. If you're looking for a fast and funny mystery with lots of twists and turns, this book just might be the ticket!

Yeah, I was really disappointed in "who done it" because I had three other people pegged for the crime(s) at various times but the author made it work. I also figured the husband would come galloping to the rescue. I think that the author did a good job at setting up expectations in the stereotypical way and then dashing them in such a way that the reader was left cheering instead of angry. Very clever and interesting.

Well, I couldn't help myself. I put the second book of this series on reserve at the library and my number came up. I'm going to pick it up today. I hope it's as good as the first one.

Ellen, I picked up the book but I'm just finishing the latest Stephen White mystery so I haven't started the new Read book. I'll let you know what I think. :)

Yikes! I just read the book flaps on this book and this one looks really good! I'm almost done with the book(s) that I'm already reading so I should be getting to this one soon.

Um...I had to return The Crazy School to the library. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I tried to read it too close on the heals of Field of Darkness. I dunno. I read the first couple of chapters and I just couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to allow that any school of any sort would have some of the policies that Ms Read came up with in her book. Maybe I'll try again in a few months. If anyone here gets through it, let me know what you think.

I admit to being that one in a thousand who didn't like Field of Darkness.  I did finish it, but only because so many people raved about the book that I figured it would get better, but for me it didn't.

I do have the second one on my TBR list, but it'll be a while before I get there.

Make that two in a thousand. ;-)  I couldn't get into this book and didn't finish it -- there are too many other things on my tbr stack that I really do want to read. It was scooped right up when I reposted, so hopefully, the next reader liked it better than me.
