Another good read by David Weber. The previous Honor Harrington novel by hi, The Short Victorious War and this one, Field of Dishonor are the best in the series that I have read so far. Good character development and plenty of action to keep you reading.
Honor gets revenge on a thorough scoundrel.
David Weber has kept this series imaginative and fun! I love Honor Harrington.
#4 in the series and again I was impressed by the continuing excellence of the writing and vision of this author.
Strong willed and brilliant space captain Honor Harrington kicks butts and takes names - what's not to like?
I've gotten sucked into the series. I give it a 4 because the series is so addicting, though I've found some of the books to be hit or miss.
Read 9/5/98 Recommended by folks on my Babylon 5 list as a heroine I'd like if I liked Bujold's Cordelia in Shards of Honor. I'm going to stick with Bujold. Like Cordelia, Honor Harrington is not a young woman who is captain of her ship; in fact she is quite elevated in society on two planets as a War Heroine.
(In fact, I think she's more similar to Richard Sharpe --Bernard Cornwell's hero of the world war between England and France against Napolean-- than Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan.)
This heroine is too perfect; she's beautiful, very intelligent and a great soldier. She has no flaws, and I find that boring writing. But as I found out when I had nearly completed this book that this is the fourth of five books (so far) about her. And they all have the same embodiment of evil cowardly antagonist.
Another great Honor Harrington..finished this one in a night.
I was enjoying the Honor Harrington series up until I started reading this book. While the author makes his politics clear in all the books, this is the one where his rage against liberals boils over and the book becomes offensively politically preachy. I read science fiction for entertainment, not to be preached at about the evils of my politics. I stopped reading this one, and have no intent to read any of the further books in this series.
back cover is slightly torn, but very readable.
I haven't read this book but doesn't she look like Michael Jackson on the cover? CREEEEEPY!!!
