Living in San Francisco I felt like I was part of this book as I remember many of the incidents (the worse the fire where firefighters were killed when the garage door shut). Having worked at the Fire Museum in SF which is attached to a fire station I can say this really tells it like it is. There is now a woman as Fire Chief but that has not helped the situation in the ranks. Very good read.
Very interesting story of what it is like to be amoung the first female firefighters in the mid 1980s.
