After a long wait I'm finally #1 on a WL book. I have been #1 for the last two weeks and it says that 2 wishes were granted in the last week and 4 wishes granted the week before.  I was #1 both those weeks but I was not offered any of the 6 books posted.   How does that happen?

Those 2 could be part of the 4, it isn't a type Mon-Sun number, it looks back at the last 7 days, so I would bet that those are all the same postings. People can bypass the WL lines by posting directly to someone and it will still show up in those stats.

It sounds like the book was posted directly to someone else's WL which is allowed.

Makes sense. I thought only books posted into the FIFO counted as wishes granted in the last week stats.

Nope, a wish granted is a wish granted. I've had that happen to me before too, which is why I mostly do things via FIFO. It sucks to be at #1 and watch those behind you getting the book instead. But oh well...just another way PBS teaches us patience! ;)

What's the book?  Maybe one of us has it in our TBR pile and can read it next and post it for you.

It's also possible that someone ahead of you had their account on hold, and took it off at a time when you weren't looking at your WL.  You could have been put back to #2 briefly, and a copy was posted, putting you at #1 again.

I've been #1 on a book for a few months. I wishlisted it as soon as I saw the pre-pub info.

So a month before the publication date I see that a wish has been granted..... and it was not me & the book hadn't been released yet..

I'm still trying to figure out who had the ARC of the book & who posted it directly to a person on the wishlist behind me!!

I'm really ok with it, but I would have liked to have seen the ARC of the book!! It will be out soon & posted soon after that... I can wait... my TBR mountain needs some serious work anyway!!

So a month before the publication date I see that a wish has been granted

I've seen that happen a couple of time with books on my WL and I wondered if maybe somebody accidentally clicked "Post" instead of "Wish List".  I hadn't thought about an ARC being posted.

Yes, I've had a couple of ARCs posted to me also, for books not yet released. Occasionally a publisher will move up the release date by a couple of weeks, but rarely several MONTHS early. Now if I get a book posted to me that hasn't been released yet, I PM the sender to let them know that if it's an ARC they'll need to cancel the order because it's not postable. That's saved a couple of problem swaps for me.

I also wonder if there was some kind of testing going on on Oct 2, because several WL books with release dates between now and January show as being posted on that day.  If it was 1 or 2, ARCs would make sense, but the consistency of this date on 10+ not yet released books, which have not been posted again, makes me think there was a test or something

Karen, the date was 10/2/09 and there are over a dozen future releases (on my wishlist) showing posted on that date. Because of the high number,  I contacted TPTB..they replied something about a newbie posting them to somebody (a single account).  I've wondered if the newbie was viewing a friend's wishlist, and looking for a way to pull the good books into her own wishlist??  Many of the books have release dates late enough in 2010, it's unlikely they are even ARC's yet.  Go figure!

Remember, even if the transaction was cancelled or not completed, once posted it shows in the archives (including last posted).  I'm number one for a nutrition book (for mom) that shows last posted in February 2009.  I was number one at that time also, the sender cancelled and apologized because her hubby wasn't ready to part with the book yet lol!  Cancelled, but still showing as the last wish filled.
