Alexis Castle has come to Catasaga Lake for two reasons. To check out Guardian Flight as the possible recipient of a grant from her family's business and to spend the summer getting close to her teenage daughter. One of the first people she meets is Spence Keagan, Guardian's chief pilot.
Spence's search-and-rescue team desperately needs a new helicopter. But he's never been comfortable schmoozing with corporate types. And Alexis is definitely all business. She barely has time to spend with her daughter. Which makes Spence sad. He'd love the chance to be with his own estranged son.

As the summer passes, Alexis and Spence begin to understand each other and gradually their feelings turn to love. But before they can build a new family together, they both have to learn what family means.
