I am really starting to get annoyed! I have searched for 10 books in the past couple of days and none of them are listed on here. They are somewhat popular books by popular authors (i.e. LeCarre, Evanovich). I have never had trouble trying to find something to read. I think I'll stick with Kindle and going to the library.

What book titles are you looking for? Check how you are searching if you have it set to Wish List or Posted only than you may not be seeing everything. I know that there are tons of Evanovich books on here.  The newest ones might be WL. But they're so popular the lines will move quickly and soon there'll be hundreds in the system.

ETA: OK I just searched each author by posted books only.  There's over 200 editions for each other readily available to order.  If the titles you want arent there then they're probably WL.  I don't how Lecarre's move but the Janet Evanovich books WL lines move quickly.

What Mary said yes  check to see if your search method is correct, there should be some of those books in the system.  If you want the newest releases, they should move fairly quickly on the wishlists or use your library.

And Robin, there's nothing on your wishlist.  If you want a steady stream of books to read, you should consider maintaining some kind of wishlist.

Hi Robin,

The suggestion to make sure you're searching all available options is a good one.  I also know that I have had trouble searching for specific book titles before even though the book was definitely in the system.  Have you tried searching by ISBN?  I find that is a much more efficient way for me to find the book I am looking for.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm still striking out but thanks for giving me ideas on how to search.

Do you mean they are not available (you have to get on the wishlist) or do you mean you can't find the books listed here at all? If you are not able to find a book at all, you should post the names of a few that you are looking for and see if others can find them. Even books that have not yet been released are listed here in advance.

Yes, please post what you are looking for. I'd love to see if they just aren't showing up for you or if they aren't available. Are you searching by name? ISBN? Are you hunting for specific editions of the books? I think most of Janet Evanovich's books are available to order immediately and as others have said, the wishlist for her books move very quickly.

If they are mostly WL than add them to your WL. Super popular titles move quickly like that.  While you are waiting, read library books, reread keepers, read from your TBR.  Got credits to burn? Look for what's posted and order a few while you wait on the WL.  Those mega popular books will often stay WL for quite a while after coming out but it's not the same people.  The lines can move 50+ spaces a week between people posting, inactives and people getting them somewhere else.  I bought the latest Sookie Stackhouse book new and within about a week of my logging it into my TBR the WL line had gone down a few hundred spots.  You just have to be patient.

Of all the trading sites I've looked into, PBS is by far the easiest one to get WL books from.  But sometimes you still have to wait in line.

Specifically I was looking for Evanovich's 18th book in the Plum series - Explosive Eighteen. I was also looking for LeCarre's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Thank you all for replying. I truly appreciate it!

With older books like Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy, also be sure to "explode" it on your wish list.

It's likely printed in many different editions.  Be sure to explore all of those options.  Maybe you just want hardcovers, maybe just paperbacks, maybe you really like the photo cover with Gary Oldman.  But if you're like me, often if you juse want to read the book, you can order it up in many and various flavors.

I've got some titles with 8 editions on my wait list.

Some I have a specific version that I want.

I hope this helps.

Explosive Eighteen has four different listings -- Hardback, Paperback, Audio CD and Large Print.  The paperback version has 6 people on their waiting list and the Hardback has 261.

Just for hahas I put the paperback edition with 6 wishers on my WL and it says 23 were posted last week.  So if you put that on your WL you will probably get it quickly.  The hardecover says the same thing and has an estimate of 10 weeks. My guess would be now that the paperback is out, it'll start moving even faster.  The lines for Tinker, Tailor etc.., are all fairly short with showing copies posted last week.  It's probably only WL now because a movie was made of it recently.  Seems like anytime a movie is made of a book it suddently becomes popular.

You just have to decide which books you can wait for and which ones you have to have now.  Then get in some WL lines.

I did post my books on WL. I am glad I posted here about this issue because I've learned a lot about finding books. So thank you all for your suggestions!

Here's the ISBN for #19.  I would suggest getting in line for it now.  It's probably already got a big WL,which will just get bigger, but once the book is out it'll move steadily. If you get in line now, then you won't be at the very end. 0345527747  for the hardcover.

To get a head start on WL lines, it helps to keep checking your favorite author's websites and see what books they have coming up and then check Amazon for ISBNs.  Amazon usually has books listed well ahead of publication date.
