It used to be that a search would return all versions (hardcover, paperback, different ISBNs) of a book.  Now, when I run a search or click on a title from the author's list, it only takes me to one version of the book.  Is there any way to access the complete list of all books with different ISBNs with the same title, the way you used to?  I really like to wishlist multiple versions of a book, since frequently one version will come through much faster than another.

Likewise, is there any rule as to which version a search will take me to?  Most of the time I've noticed, it's taken me to a hardcover version - what if I like paperbacks?

Thanks for any help!

Naiche

When I run a search and make sure All Books is selected and all formats are checked, I still get all different ISBNs. Maybe the one you are trying really only has one version in PBS?  When you click on a title from the authors list, that's a list of specific versions so you will only get that one version if you click on it. You'll see that same title listed more than once to cover every different version. Once you are in the book details, way down on the bottom you can select other versions to link into.

I actually look on Amazon. I've found ISBN's that PBS doesn't show but are in the system.

It usually defaults to books posted or the last search you used. So over on the left switch it to show All books. Most likely only that version is currently available in PBS. The other versions are either WL or not posted at this time.

Also sometimes an author's name or a book name will be misspelled in the system and that can cause a problem.  So try switching the search up a little if the above suggestion doesn't work.  Like switch to an author search if you're using title or vice versa.  If it is spelled wrong, you can edit it I believe or post it on one of the editing threads.

Hmm.  I've just tried it again and the problem seems to have gone away.  Obviously a software glitch, but was it in the PBS programming or in my brain?

Thanks, and sorry for disturbing you all.

With so many changes going on lately, its always good to bring things to everyone's attention. Either to let everyone know of a change, or have them help figure it out/figure a way around it.

Thank you, Melanie, that's a very kind interpretation of my senior moment concern.

I've been having this happen when a book is on my wishlist.  It won't pull up the other versions, even when I do the search all. :(  I've been pulling up the ISBN's for those at Amazon and searching with that.

Sometimes you can also find other versions if you click on the link to the author's name rather than just the book title. If they're very prolific, that can be a bit of a pain as you get all the versions of all the books they've written that are in the PBS database, but that's often how I find other versions of my wishlisted books just sitting right there in the system.
