I ordered 2 books from a member and I saw a few more on their shelf and wanted to ask if they would be willing to do any deals if I ordered a larger amount of books.  But, I can't find any way to pm them, before ordering the original books I wanted.

Why can't we have a way to pm the member before we order the books?  Why doesn't PBS want us to be able to do this?  I tried looking up the member in the directory, but had no luck.

I just went ahead and ordered the 2 books and now have the chance to pm the person about whether they would do any deals, but it would be nice to be able to do this first.

Thanks, Susie

If you ordered books from them previously there should be a PM button near the transaction.  Or if they have a profile set up you can look them up in the member directory.

You can look them up in your transaction archive.

I had never ordered from them before, and I tried to look them up but could not find them.  Not everyone is in the member list it says.  I did pm them after ordering the books, so it will probably be just fine, but for people who might have just 2 or 3 credits, they probably want to ask before they go ahead and spend the credits...just in case.

Thanks, Susie

The problem with that would be that since the system if FIFO, while you are PMing and waiting for an answer, their book(s) could get ordered by someone else and when you get around to ordering, you get them from another member. The only way to make sure your order goes to that shelf is to order first and then PM.

Yes, that is why I went ahead and ordered, so hopefully I will get the books, but I still would like a way to pm someone "before" ordering...even if it means I might not get all the books I wanted.  Sometimes I am low on credits and getting a deal like 2 for 1 credit will help a lot.  And with the increase in postage, many times it costs the same to mail 2 paperbacks so people don't mind making a deal if they have a large bookshelf.

Susan,

If you are looking for deals I would suggesy you read the book bazaar forum or check out people's signatures while reading any forum. Many forum poster's list specials they will accept in their signature. I myself will usually do a 2 for 1 special.

Also, you can peruse people's shelves throught their profiles here and see if you like anything and can offer them a deal via PM through the profile.
