How can I find members that have similar profiles, other than clicking on their profiles in discussion forums or when someone requests a book?

If you invite members to be your friends, then you can check the similarity index from your Friends page, but there's no current way to do a search to find people with similar tastes.

What I did was I went to the forums where some of my reading interest lie, ie say Mysteries and read some of the posts, then sent out invitations.  I also asked in that forum for folks that enjoyed cozies and british mysteries to send me an invitation.  Then I checked out the games forum as there are a lot of cozy games and I sent everybody an invitation once I looked at their profile.  Next, I posted asking for friends on the Club Member's Thoughts forum.  In total I picked up about 200 or so but I have a wide range of books that I read as well as carry on my bookshelf and post many of them directly to my friends.  Lots of gold key members like to have other gold key members for this reason, to get WLed books posted directly to them.  Hope this helps.  Oh and I also sent invitations to the members who have mailed out lots of books.  You go to Club Wishlist, and click Swappers who have mailed out the most books and then look at their profile.  I just sent one to everybody and 98% accepted.

The best way is to hang out in the forums and make friends.  The games are a great way to make friends here.

Genre forums, particularly, are a good way to find other members with similar reading interests.

I guess I was wishing for a way to search profiles.

I've always thougth searching profiles would be a good feature--say, by keyword.

Jill, why don't you suggest it?  The site owners do take member feedback into account when deciding on new features (use the Contact Us link at the bottom, right hand corner of the page to send them a Feedback email).
