I was a bit intimidated by the Epic portion of the Classics Challenge, so I thought I would dive in a get it over with and ...ta daa!!! I just finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo!  I feel like I should get a prize or a pat on the head or something! Although long books sort of tire me out, I did really enjoy The Count and all his many and various adventures.  There were some thoroughly nasty customers in this book.

edited to remove spoiler!

Michelle- I too just finished The Count of Monte Cristo.  I loved it!  I don't want to say too much and spoil it for ohters but I will say that I wish I had read the book years ago.  It was great.

Diana, congratulations!  That is one whopper of a book!  Did you read the unabridged version?  I read the translation by Robin Buss and it was quite good.  I never felt that it was 'too hard' for me but I will admit to having an atlas out to refer to in parts, lol!  I loved how all the separate story lines tied neatly together! What a wonderful adventure story. Those people who have selected it for their Epic or Lost in Translation challenge are in for a treat!

Yes, I did read the unabridged version.  I'm not sure who translated it; I checked it out of the library and I've already returned it.  It wasn't too hard for me either, just time consuming.  My problem was that I started it on  a Friday  night, which blew my whole weekend because all I wanted to do was read and not do my chores!

Diana, wow! You read that book in one weekend!?! That is impressive!  It took me two months (although I cheated on it and read other books as the mood hit me).  That's an accomplishment and I'm sure the chores could wait!  I'm always jealous of all you fast readers out there.

I just finished listened to the unabridged version and it was great.  I found it fascinating on many levels,  the complex plot lines, the way the main character exacts his revenge on those who wronged him, the discussions of forgiveness/revenge, good v evil, fate and personal choices, the list could go on for a long time.  It was worth the time and most entertaining

Finally finished!  It was excellent.  I have a couple of comments/questions but I don't want to spoil anyone's reading.  If anyone wants to hear these, pm me.  Caution:  Great book though it was, in a couple of weeks, although I will remember the main story, I will completely forget most details.
