This is a wonderful story about what a family will go through for faith. Even though I am not mormon I found the book to be a really great read for history buffs.

There's a lot about Missouri in this story, including Liberty, Missouri where I grew up. Even though I lived there for years and the old Liberty Jail is just a couple of blocks off the square, I didn't learn about it until I took a mandatory Missouri History class in high school. I never heard anyone talk about it.
