An excellent and unusual analysis of the Vietnam war, looked at from a different point of view. The book posits that the underlying reason for America's failure in Vietnam was a misunderstanding of the Vietnamese culture. While I don't agree entirely with the author's premise, a host of other people did. Book won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the Bancroft Prize for History.
