I wanted to share that I mailed a 6oz. paperback via first class mail for $2.06.  Media Mail was $2.38.   Just a heads up to check the cost of 1st class before immediately choosing Media.  I'm new here, so maybe this is already common knowledge.  If so, I apologize for the repeat topic.

Lindsay, in my experience when I mail from the post office, the clerk will tell me if first class is cheaper (or only a few cents more than media mail) so I'm aware of my options.  However, if you print postage from home it's good to know that you should weigh your packages first to make sure you're not overspending on postage.

Hi Britney,

I do ship from home and weigh my packages.  Thanks for the heads up though.  I hope this topic may save some members money!

Normally if the weight is less than 6 oz. the mailing label will say first class instead of media mail.  It's built into the system.  Of course, the weight the system uses is not always right.
