First to Die is the first book in his Women's Murder Club series.
I didn't even realize that this is going to be a tv series. But after reading this book, I can't wait to check out the tv show premiering Oct. 12th. This is much better than the made for tv movie, as often is the case with books. As soon as I was finished with it, after not being able to put it down and reading it in a day, I had to check if their were more. I am anxiously waiting the second novel. This was my first James Patterson book.
The beginning had me hooked. James Patterson did a great job developing the characters in this new series. They have a police officer, lawyer, coroner and reporter working together to solve a murder mystery. All are female and very likable and believable characters.
Lindsey Boxer is a homocide inspector for the San Francisco PD. A string of murders involving newlyweds springs up and Lindsey and three of her friends try to solve the murders on there own time. In addition to this Lindsey is fighting a potentially life threatening disease and is exploring the possibility of a loving relationship with her new partner. You will think you know who the killer is and then something comes up to make you focus your thoughts on somene else. Even when you think it is over, its not.
The plot is well thought out and explicit. The chapters are short and the story moves at a quick pace. If you enjoy a good mystery you will want to read this book.

Wow! I saw the TV movie when it came out, and hadn't planned on reading the book. However, I wanted to read all five of the Women's Murder Club series, so I decided to go ahead and read 1st To Die. It was wonderful! I read it in two days. Engrossing plot with lots of twists. Short chapters that keep you reading and reading, into the wee hours.

This is my first time reading anything by James patterson and I really enjoyed it....the mystery, the characters, and the easy reading (short chapter) style. It was difficult to put down. I have heard they are making this book series a tv show for the Fall. Would definitely recommend.

This is a fast paced story with many twists and turns that hold your interest. 1st to Die has both thrilling twists and a little love story. In this book Patterson takes on the narrative perspective of a woman to create a page-turning opening to The Woman's Murder Club. I thought the plot of the book kept it interesting and hard to put down. Another aspect of the book that made it worth reading was the clear character descriptions. As well as describing characters vividly, James Patterson throws in many strong details. I had a difficult time putting it down. Lindsay Boxer is a wonderful character. Her detective skills are also impressive. I love how the "Women's Murder Club" developes and grows. The relationships between the women are honest and endearing - the kind of women you'd want as your friends. The murders are twisted and the plot moves along quickly. I love the twists that the story takes and the ending was a bit of a surprise.

This book was excellent I could not put it down and I'm not much of a book worm. You will be on your toes the whole time and you will also cry well i did. You'll be shocked at the end of the story to find out who the killer is. I can't wait to finish reading all the woman's murder club books.

The first in a terrific series - very entertaining. i have been getting a few at a time because they're quick reads. The woman who is the 'main character' is funny, tough and compassionate - just the kind of lady we want as a friend ourselves. And her friends are great too. you'll get hooked on this team, I'll bet. Enjoy!!

I LOVE this book and the new series it begins. I read most all of James Patterson's other books (I love Alex Cross...) first as I am not big on "girly, girly mysteries". But, I should have known better than to assume that of James Patterson. 1st to Die was refreshing, thrilling and fun all at the same time. I am prepared to knock out the whole Women's Murder Club series now!

Page 1: It is an unusually warm night in July, but I'm shivering badly as I stand on the substantial gray stone terrace outside my apartment. I'm looking out over glorious San Francisco and I have my service revolver pressed against the side of my temple. "Goddamn you, God!" I whisper. Quite a sentiment, but appropriate and just, I think.
I hear Sweet Martha whimpering. I turn to see she is watching me through glass doors that lead to the terrace. She knows that something is wrong. "It's okay," I call her through the door. "I'm okay. Go lie down, girl." Martha won't leave, though, won't look away. She's a good, loyal friend who's been nuzzling me good-night every single night for the past six years.
As I stare into the Border Collie's eyes, I think that maybe I should go inside and call the girls, Clair....................

For Lindsay Boxer, working in a field that is dominated by men is difficult. But when your father is an ex-cop who is not necessarily renowned for exemplary duty, she has to constantly prove her worth to her fellow law enforcers. All these she could handle while still maintaining her optimistic approach to life. But nothing can prepare her for the crime that will rock the city of San Francisco.
A newlywed couple is brutally murdered just hours after the wedding. And while the SFPD is still baffled by the crime, the killer soon strikes again in two other cities, with two newlywed couples also murdered. Aptly dubbed by the media as "the bride and groom murders", Lindsay is sickened by the horrible deaths and vows to bring the killer to justice. Never in her life as a law enforcer has she been more determined, especially now when she must also deal with a life-threatening disease. So she turns to her best friend Claire, a medical examiner. Together, they try to come up with possible leads that will help them solve the murder. Along the way, Lindsay meets the ambitious reporter Cindy Thomas, and sassy assistant D.A. Jill Bernhardt. In the most unexpected twist, these four different and brilliant women form the Women's Murder Club. Heedless of the standard procedures, they work together gathering every bit of information they can find intent on unraveling the truth.
1st TO DIE is a thrilling beginning to a series that has got me hooked. The prologue already serves as a teaser, as we are first introduced to the lead female character. Then when chapter one begins with the grisly murder, I had a feeling I was in for a roller-coaster ride. And I wasn't wrong. I was absolutely riveted by the twists and turns to the story. Trying to guess who the murderer is had me turning the pages over. Lindsay's struggle to cope with a personal tragedy also had me drawn to her character, not to mention the love that develops between her and her partner. And let's not forget the friendship that starts between these remarkable women, whom we will get to know more of as the Women's Murder Club continues. Now these four don't hang out together to talk Jimmy Choos or Prada! Once you meet them, you'd want to know more about them.
This is a real-page turner that had me on the edge of my seat and I can't wait to read more of James Patterson's novels.

Imagine a killer who thinks: "What is the worst thing that anyone has ever done?" - and then goes far beyond. Now imagine four career women banding together to track down the demented murderer, who preys on San Francisco newlyweds. In this thrilling series debut, the four women - a police detective, an assistant D.A., a reporter, and a medical examiner - develop intense friendships even as they pursue a killer whose twisted imagination has stunned an entire city. Working together, they have the mettle to follow the leads to an impossibly heart-stopping confrontation with the most terrifying serial killer ever imagined.

This was the first book I've read by J. Patterson. It was great. It kept me up at night reading!!
Was my first James Patterson book. My husband bought the book, told me it was the story of Women's Murder Club, which I loved to watch. Got me hooked. Was upset at number 3, disappointed at 8 and 9 as it seemed to take away from the rest of the stories. But am looking for number 10 next year. Patterson is a great writer and keeps you interestered. I highly recommend his books.
A great series of books! Great story telling skills and you feel involved with the characters!

I loved this series but I started with 6 and read all the books out of order. "1st To Die" was written by a different co-author than 6 and I did enjoy it but I prefer the co-authored books by Maxine Paetro. I think I'll read all the books again in order and I can't wait for 10!
Excellent intro to the Women's Murder Club.

Fast, fun read - suspenseful page turner!
Very good book! Best of the series! Great cast of characters & excellent writing! I like James Patterson so much better when he writes alone.
The concept of four professional women getting together to solve mysteries is a winner, and Patterson is a real craftsman, keeping the plot moving and providing plenty of surprises. It was a little to bloody for my taste but in today's murder mystery world that's how it rolls.
Loved this book! Must read series.

This was a very good book. It kept me guessing to the end. It had a very unexpected ending which I really liked. I can't wait to read book 2.
A wonderful read-keeps you on the edge of your seat.
This first in a series is certainly a page turner. It came highly recommeded to me by a friend. The action moves quickly and the book is a fast read. James Patterson knows how to grab the reader's attention from the first page. Some descriptions are rather graphic but not tedious. I plan to read the next one in the series, as soon as I can.
Excellent thriller. In particular, the chacters, their pains and pleasures are well done. Someone is killing newly weds, for no apparent reason. It takes the skills of each of the women, in the club, to put this together.
This story is filled with twists and turns and links crimes that seem random. This book was definitely a page turner and kept my interest to the end.
Good Read

Great opening to the series. The Murder Club is one of the series I buy as soon as the book comes out. I'm so glad they turned Women's Murder Club into a tv series.
Loved this. Fast paced and surprise ending.
First of a trio of very readable books
The first in what appears to be a good series. The characters don't exactly match their TV characters but the story line is good and the Murder Club looks like it's in for a long run.
I want more of this series. Good characters, nice polt, quick entertaining read.
I LOVE this book! Twists and turns with little clues if you really pay attention.
If you are a fan of the new ABC show "Women's Murder Club" you must read this book. It helps to give some of the background for the show (although some of it has been altered for TV). This book was well written, a fast read and kept me guessing right up to the end. James Patterson at his best.

To find and outwit the most diabolical killer imagined! A book you won't want to put down till you finish it!
James Patterson has become something of a formula writer but that's not a bad thing in the case of this series. He keeps the reader interested not only in the crime solving aspect but in the character development as well.
First in a series of five books so far about a club formed by four women to catch a psycho killing newlywed couples. Great read.
I really enjoy all of James Patterson's books. This is the first book in a series of books about 4 women who form a club to solve murders. I enjoyed this book as well as the other books in the series. It is an easy to read book with short chapters so you can easily pick it up and read a few pages in a short period of time.

I'm hooked on this series. Lindsey, Claire, and Cindy, and Jill are fantastic. Definately read the series from the beginning, because some of the subplots grow from previous books.
Typical Pateterson great read.

First in the series of Patterson's "murder club" mysteries, this is a fast-paced novel about Lindsay Boxer, a San Francisco homicide detective, who enlists the help of 3 more bright women to solve the mystery of an apparent serial killer. At the same time, Lindsay is fighting her own battle against a serious, often fatal disease.
Any book by Patterson is a joy to read
This is the first book in a new Patterson series. Four professional women (not THAT profession) team up to solve a crime. I don't think it's as good as his Alex Cross Series, but I enjoyed it.

Lots of twists and turns, ending is a stunner! Great characters, a bit graphic (hey, it's James Patterson!) This is a series to continue. Series title (Women's Murder Club) sounds cozy but definitely NOT.
Good Patterson read. Like the idea of female brigade of heros. Looking forward to the next story.
First in the Women's Club murder series and an excellent start--you think you've got it figured out and then....well we don't want to let the cat out of the bag.

Personal Book - never been swapped! This book is the FIRST in the Women's Murder Club series, of which there are now 4.
Main character is Lindsey Boxer, a homicide detective for the San Francisco Police Department. When a newlywed couple is found brutally murdered just hours after their wedding (stil in their wedding attire), boxer is put on the case, and it takes off from there. Two other coules are also murdered, but one is in Napa and the other in Cleveland. Boxer is unsure whether there is a serial killer at work, but it is up to her to find the common denominator in these homicides.
The Women's Murder Club is made up of four women, Lindset Boxer (see above), Claire Washburn (San Francisco Medical Examiner), Jill Bernhardt (Assistant DA), and Cindy Thomas (reporter for the Chronicle). These women use their individual skills to crack open the case, a little at a time.
This book will take you on a roller coaster ride from the very beginning. It is full of twisting plot turns, even one at the very end! A very well reviewed bok, give it a try!

AWESOME AND QUICK Reading!!
This was the first James Patterson book that I read. I've subsequently gotten about 20 of them and am working my way through. Patterson does it all just right - short chapters, buckets full of action and suspense, and real characters that aren't lost in the fast pace. Can't wait to read the rest.
Great twister of a story.
Really good book, I couldn't put it down!
Good read.
I really liked this series of novels by James Patterson because I like the female protagonist, Lindsay Boxer. I love the Women's Murder Club and I hope that he continues to write more in this series.

A thriller solved by the Women's Murder Club. First in the series. Very good book
Typical James Patterson Book. Fast Paced and Hard to put down. Lindasy Boxer is the female equivalent to Alex Cross. Patterson does it again
The first in the Women's Murder Club Series, I like this much better than his Alex Cross Series. It's about a police Lt. Lindsay Boxer, the coroner Claire, a reporter for the local news paper Cindy, and DA Jill. These fiesty women try to solve this serial murder over margaritas.
Classic Patterson.
James Patterson's books are the best - this is an early one and I couldn't put it down-he weaves a thrilling story!

This book is complex and has rich interesting characters. At times, Patterson's dedication to detail is irritating though, as I just wanted to focus on the murders and not the subplots. Otherwise, a good book!
