Fascinating insight into a character that has been largely forgotten by the annals of history. Levy does a fantastic job not only of tracing Carter's life and placing it in a historical context but also of postulating reasons as to why Carter's story has been obscured and forgotten. Excellent research, excellent narrative, kept me interested until the last page.
