Well worn, well read book about Cullen Baker, the first known fast draw in TX. The carpetbaggers thought they had taken over all of East Texas, but Cullen and his friends thought differently.

HERE LIES SAM BARLOW
COWARD-THIEF-MURDERER
KILLED BY CULLEN BAKER
I burned those words on a rough board, dug the grave deep and left them for Barlow to see. Then I started practicing with my Colt ten hours a day, till it leaped into my hand and found the target like a living thing. I was ready for Barlow now. I had invented the deadliest form of hand-to-hand fighting the world had ever seen--the first fast draw.

A good western.

One of L'Amour's first westerns.
They are all excellent reading, hard to put down before finishing.

This 1971 edition paperback is a great read. Found it in an antique store in AZ along with a hugh stack of more L'Amour paperbacks. I read for days! Love this author. Great suspense, fast paced Western.
