From back cover:
Wealthy Vance Banning needed a rest from the rat race and from gold-digging women, so he settled in a rural retreat and said he was an out of work carpenter. Vance was certain that would stop his beautiful neighbor from getting too friendly! But he had no idea how persistent Shane Abbott could be when it came to giving a helping hand- or a loving heart!

Two great stories of people trying to resist love but only falling deeper. While these two stories are simpler then other Nora Roberts books they still have a great story line that hooks you in.

Typical of the early Silhouette romances that got Nora Roberts where she is today.

She always has likable characters that feel like family or close friends.

Easy, quick read

It just goes to show you that first impressions are not always best, at least in this book.

This book is a current reprint of a 1984 release. I wish when they did these reprints that an editor would give the book a quick read for references so far out of date that it is jarring to the story. In this case it is reference to an hourly wage being offered - $5/hr. In today's times that is downright offensive. A few chapters after I read that, I went and checked the copyright so I realized that amount was when minimum wage was $3.35/hr (yes I looked it up). It would have been such an easy thing to fix but it just distracted me from the story. Perhaps that was bound to happen, it wasn't the most engaging story I've ever read. Cute way to kill time but not a keeper.

This is a great Christmas read and the first book I have read by this author. It is two stories in one so It was like getting a present and I enjoyed it very much.
