I also make this list up and others can add to it.  Listing available in system for 1st book in series.  We might see something else that catches our attention.

Cozy 1st in Series - Available for Order

Some have a lot available, some a few.

I would prefer something with animals or smart women, like a puzzle person or professional. I don't like girly girls or reading about them, weak women really annoy me, I think that's why this genre has never been a favorite. The women have to have some substance, or there have to be enough animals that I don't care. I've seen pet walker series, and a vet. I read one about a woman who writes crossword puzzles, that wasn't bad.

I would add Nero Wolfe books too, they don't even remotely need to be read in order. He wrote for like 40 years and they stand alone just fine. And they're full of men, lol.

I voted on Cynthia's list for all the books I currently have.  Most I voted for I have already read.

I have read a lot of Nero Wolf books years ago and liked them.  Wouldn't mind rereading them.

I also love the Mrs. Pollifax series by Dorothy Gilman.  They were a lot of fun.

I also have all the Thin Woman series by Dorothy Cannell, thanks to a wonderful friend who thought I would enjoy them.  I have only read the first one so far.  I think many people credit Ms. Cannell for beginning the entire cozy genre.

I read some Nero Wolf years ago too.  I don't think I have read any Mrs Pollifax

Just looked at Cynthia's first in series list, and two of the three in the top three I actually own but haven't read - Keepsake Crimes and Cooking Up Murder.

I have read On What Grounds and all the books in that series except the last one (on my WL).   I like decorating with books, so I have them all in the kitchen next to my coffeemaker.

I'm going to "watch" this topic and see which one you guys end up choosing. (I've got quite a few of the ones listed, so I won't list them all!) It would give me a nice incentive to get to another cozy from the TBR mountain. :)

I'm with Debbie. I have quite a few of these already so I'll wait to see what everyone decides.

Debbie and Kim, go vote on Cynthia's list for all the ones you have.  Maybe it will help us choose.

ETA - I added Murder on Monday to Cynthia's list since two of us have it and there are pleny of copies to order.

"Debbie and Kim, go vote on Cynthia's list for all the ones you have. "

I did vote already though it was before you added Murder on Monday. When it comes to first books of cozies I'm pretty flexible.

There are probably a lot more firsts but I got tired of looking.  I was using the tag for cozy mystery and just seeing what was available.

I'll check out Murder for Monday.  It won't let me vote on my own list though but I'm flexible.

I'm flexible, too, so if I don't have the book you all choose, I'll get it.  Looking forward to the next discussion.

Well, I've only read a few of those listed because I try not to start too many new series and instead keep up in my active series.    But these are the ones that I would be most interested in reading.   Some I even have on my TBR already.

Miranda Bliss – Cooking Up Murder

BB Haywood – Town in a Blueberry Jam

Patricia Harwin –  Arson and Old Lace

India Ink – Scent to Her Grave  (I've read this one, but it was a fun read and one that I would read again.)

Miranda James – Murder Past Due

Amanda Lee - The Quick and the Thread

Jenn McKinlay – Sprinkle with Murder

Cathy Pickens – Southern Fried

ETA:   I voted on Cynthia's list, but some of these weren't on the list.   Not sure if that's because they werent' available on PBS?

ETA:  I see that Sandy mentioned Sue Grafton's Alphabet series as an option.  I LOOOOOOVE the alphabet series, have read them all and own them all.  But I would not consider them to be cozies.   The main character is a private detective, ex-cop.  She carries a gun  - and uses it (although she doesn't like to do it)     There is plenty of  "on-screen" violence in the series.

Some of them do not have enough copies.  I'll look them up and add the ones that do.  Southern Fried has 8 copies in the system, how many do we need?

ETA -Added Southern Fried and Town in a Blueberry Jam, the others didn't have enough copies.

I don't know.   How many people participated in the last discussion?  That might be a good guide.    Keep in mind that some of us can either get the book from a local library or may even own it already.

Thanks for looking up how many copies are available in the system.   That takes some exttra work, I know.

Murder On Monday has 29 in the system.

Edited to add:  Carole, we started out with 9 participants, but some dropped out before we finished the discussion.

Ok... I went and voted on Cynthia's list for books I have but haven't read yet.

Those are: A Killer Plot, Shop Until You Drop, Eggs in Purgatory, On What Grounds, Murder on Monday, State of the Onion, Sit-Stay-Slay, and Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death.

(Ones on the list that I've already read include Murder on a Girl's Night Out, Murder is Binding, Murder Past Due, and Southern Fried.)

I also have quite a few WL'd firsts in the TBR, and many others, so if you guys list any others that are definitely in the running, I can check for them.
