requested a book this afternoon and the member who has it is in Alaska. Be interesting to see how long it takes to go through the mail.

I've gotten several books from Alaska as well as sent several and surprisingly it doesn't take long at all - think normal is 2 weeks or less. In fact, I just sent one to North Pole, AK on April 6 and it was marked received on April 18.

The surprising one is books going to and from Hawaii as they all go via ship so they take a longer time.  Pat

Let us know how long it takes.  I've sent  to and received from Alaska, but that was before media mail started moving so much faster.

If it's anything like what happened to me recently, they should get it fast. I mailed a nine pound box of books on a Saturday to my BIL in NH and he got on Monday. We couldn't believe it got there so fast.

It used to take about a month a few years ago but with media mail traveling faster these days, my last few to/from Alaska have taken 10-14 days, a vast improvement!

On one occasion I received a media mailed book from Alaska in 5 days. On the other hand, sometimes it's taken a week to receive a book mailed within Iowa.

well. request was on the 23rd. hasn't been mailed yet.

I contacted the person who had the book this morning to ask if they sent the book yet. They can't remember if they sent it 2 or 3 days ago. They forgot to mark the book sent. In the system it says it was sent today.

no book yet. I think it has been about 16 days so far.
