The forth in the series. Crazy fun! its good to see the girl not fall for the truely bad boy this time. Although, I'm not sure a vampire could be a "good" bad boy... Much fun, much laughs, Much action. Charming as ever.

4th in the series. Bounty hunter, witch Rachel Morgan, tackles the weres in this tale. All the weres, not just one clan! Rachel and her cohorts continue chasing the bad guys, Rachel struggles with her conscience, love life and spells. May be the best of the series.

I'm hooked on this series. It's very well-written and not a bunch of fluff like some other series I've tried to get into. There's some great humor and action and magic that's woven into a book I had a hard time putting down. It's got some great one-liners that had me cracking up and I absolutely get a kick out of Jenks and his family. His "Tink" exclamations are the best!

I found this book a little difficult to get through, it dragged a lot in several spots for me, and I consider it the weakest in the series so far. It picked up by the end though, and I enjoyed the events overall.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first three, but it was still a heck of a fun, excitement filled ride! I think the story just stretched out too far in length for me, making it a bit longer of a read.

Better than book 2, this installment is darker and much more poignant. Still littered with annoying editing errors, but not quite as many as book 2. No harlequin romance-esque love scenes either, thank goodness. Jenks plays a major role, which is what saves this book.

I read this book first, and it is a continuation on a series, I didn't pay attention. I really enjoyed the book without having read the others, but I don't feel like reading the previous ones, now, like I have the endings of the other books. Moral of the story: read others in series first!

I was disappointed with A Fistful of Charms and it was an effort for me to finish it. It was slow, boring, and I just didn't care at all what was happening. Rachel was on my nerves the entire time. She was so wishy-washy with all of the decisions she made. It was annoying because she didn't seem to learn from her mistakes and continued to make them. The plot wasn't that great to begin with and the solution to the problem got so convoluted. There didn't seem to be very much progress to the relationships and I wondered what was the point of this book. I have the next two in the series in my TBR, but I doubt I'll read them. It's sad because I really enjoyed books two and three.

the heroine's guilt kind of drove me crazy. i wanted her to feel a little bit more powerful/kick-butt (she is, but she doesn't think/act like she is). great series, though, and i am chomping at the bit for the next installation.

Fourth in a series. I didn't really like Rachel or Ivy very much in this book. There were characters from the other books that didn't make an appearance and I missed them. Jenks made this one readable. It was fun, but not what I had hoped for.

Fistful of Charms by Kim Harrison
As Ive been trying to read 50 books in one year I have slowly been working my way through Kim Harrisons The Hollows (Rachel Morgan) series, and I just completed the fourth book, Fistful of Charms. The series follows the adventures of Rachel Morgan, a witch and independent runner, which is kind of like a private investigator/bounty hunter.
In the last books Jenks has been on the outs with Ivy and Rachel, but when Jenks son Jax disappears and then calls for help Jenks and Rachel rush to Michigan to pick him up.
Jax tells them that Rachels ex-boyfriend Nick the thief is being held on an island populated by Weres because he double crossed them after finding an artifact that has gone missing for centuries.
After using a spell, actually a curse but shes not splitting hairs, to shift into a wolf form so she can fight an alpha were for their freedom, she wins the battle and they manage to escape the island.
However Nick has the artifact and the Weres will do anything to retrieve it. Somehow, Jenks, Rachel and Ivy who joins them later must find a way to elude the Weres and stop Nick from stealing the artifact otherwise a vampire/Were power struggle will break out with many people injured in what eventually will become a war.
I liked this book, along with the others in the series that I have read. Harrison gives her characters real and messy lives, which can be hard in a sci-fi setting. There is,however, quite a lot of introspection on Rachels part in this book making her kind of whinny. It was good to see some of the reasoning behind some of the characters choices, but it did get a little annoying. I will still read the next book, which is coming to me via paperback swap.
So a little more than a month to go (33 days) and five books still to finish. . . Im not sure Im gonna make this but I am really proud of how far Ive come.

My favorite book so far. I loved having Jenks back. He had me laughing out loud again. I liked the wolf pack involvement. I was also happy to finally see something happen between Rachel and Ivy. It hasn't solved their issues, but I think they are on their way to getting over the weirdness and tension in their friendship. I was really irritated with Nick in this, but loved how Rachel ended the book with him. I was glad for a break with the demons in this one, but did miss Trent.

Another great chapter in the history of 'the Hollows', that part of Cincinnati where those who aren't quite human congregate. 'Aren't quite human'...? Vampires, witches, werewolves, pixies---things like that! Ever since a laboratory accident killed off the majority of humans, the not-quite-humans have come out of the closet, and life has gotten a lot more interesting on earth.
Oh, and did I mention that there are some demons who don't much like our heroine?

From back cover: The evil night things that prowl Cincinnati despise witch and bounty hunter Rachel Morgan. Her new reputation for the dark arts is turning human and undead heads alike with the intent to possess, bed, and kill her--not necessarily in that order.
Now a mortal lover who abandoned Rachel has returned, haunted by his secret past. And there are those who covet what Nick possesses--savage beasts willing to destroy the Hollows and everyone in it if necessary.
Forced to keep a low profile or eternally suffer the wrath of a vengeful demon, Rachel must nevertheless act quickly. For the pack is gathering for the first time in millennia to ravage and to rule. And suddenly more than Rachel's soul is at stake.

Deeper character development of Ivy, Rachel & Nick. Jenks is always entertaining, but angst over his age (pixies only live to 20) introduces sadness to storyline. Love this series! Highly recommended.

I love this series. It's the perfect mix of suspense and humor. This time around, Rachel is called on to rescue her ex-boyfriend, Nick. He has stolen something from the Weres and they will do anything to get it back. There is plenty of heart-stopping danger mixed with moments. If you have not read the first three books, many of the interactions will not make sense to you. The complex personalities and relationships of Rachel, Nick, Ivy and Jenks are really explored and developed throughout the story. The only thing I missed was that Trent made no appearance, although he is referenced several times.
My one complaint, that I've found in all of these books, is frequent editing errors. There are many typos. Most are meaningless, but some are confusing. For example, at one point, "Walter" is written as "Water". Another time, it reads as Jenks handing something to Jenks, instead of his son Jax. While I still love the series, the typos are frequent enough that I find it distracting.

In book 4 of The Hollow Series, Rachel and a supersized Jenks head to Michigan to rescue Nick and Jax. Nick has stolen an artifact that the Weres want but Rachel knows that it will be a war between the Vampires and Weres like never before. After rescuing Nick and Jax, Rachel plots to make it appear like the focus is destroy and Nick has died so the Weres will leave her peace and Nick will be saved. She finds out Nick has betrayed her in more way than one.

Harrison has become one of my favorite urban fantasy authors. Rachel is funny, flawed and believable. Jenks is just a riot. Along with Ivy and Kisten, they make a good family. The story was nicely paced and interesting enough to keep me reading. Harrison does a nice job of blending the everyday into the fantasy world she's created. Looking forward to Book 5.
