A remarkable and moving story of the love between a white women & a black man in mid 20th century American. A monumental novel of a forbidden love.

This really was an excellent read...though a bit slow in parts and a little long. If you have any humanity, this book will make you so angry and so sad. It's not specifically a love story, but a commentary on an ugly time in our country's history concerning prejudice during the 1940's-1960's...the struggles and ugliness that (sadly) still exist in some areas of the U.S.
