A thread in another forum got me thinking of the books I've read that I've given five stars to.

Here's the 5 star books I read last year:  PinkCypress 2012 5-star books

My list for this year so far:  PinkCypress 2013 5-star books

I just finished ME BEFORE YOU by JoJo Moyes.  I loved it and it's a five start book, in my opinion!

I just started The Girl You Left Behind by Moyes - I haven't gotten very far, but it's really good so far.

I loved Me Before You, too!

Best book of 2013 for me:

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

It's a five star one for me.

Just finished The Art of Racing in the Rain and it was wnderful. I was very hesitant about ordering this because I do not like sad dog books. This is not a sad dog book but a wonderfully writted book that celebrates humanity, honor, sacrifice. I highly recommend it.

Rhonda - great idea, I need to make a list of my 5 star books!  The last thing I read that I gave 5 stars would be rereading Year of Wonders, and before that Fly Away, a sequel to Firefly Lane, I just really liked it.

Mary K - Racing in the Rain is a great book!  Have you read A Dog's Purpose ?

OMG, I loved A Dog's Purpose!!!  Loved Racing in the Rain too.

I was at the gym on the treadmill when I read A Dog's Purpose, and I was just bawling - so embarrassing!

Nancy,  I have been raving about In the Heart of the Canyon by Elisabeth Hyde.  I think you would love it too after reading your 5 star list.

I would also recommend Love in the Present Tense by Catherine Ryan Hyde.  5 stars.  Unforgettable.

Well, I went through my PBS reviews and made my list of books that I gave 5 stars, interesting – some were obvious and some was surprised by.  Also I feel like I am stingy with my “5s” but I had 29 books on my list, hmmm.

I enjoyed looking at your five star book lists. Out of curiosity I made my own list just to see how I have rated books over the few years I've been on PBS. I didn't second guess myself, I simply added any book that I had rated with 5 stars. I'll admit that there were some books in my BIR list that I was surprised didn't get 5 stars from me and some that I was surprised to see had gotten 5 stars. But I rate a book as soon as I finish reading, so I'm just trusting my initial reactions to the books to be the most honest and accurate. I also noticed I get stingier every year with that 5th star.

Darn it, Bruce.  I ended up buying a copy of The Red Knight (Traitor Son Cycle, Bk 1) by Miles Cameron

after reading your list of 5star books.    The only one I could not agree on with you that I have read is Matterhorn.  It was a DNF for me.  I love Nam books, too.  I just couldn't get into it at all.

Carole, I agree with The School of Essential Ingredients and Garden Spells - loved both books so much, they are both on my keeper shelf!  I have The Forgotten Garden here in mount TBR, but haven't read it yet.

I'm in line for Orphan Train at the library - can't wait to get it!  I think I have One Good Dog around here somewhere, buried in my mess of a bookshelf.
