I'm not an instinctive or imaginative cook, and although, I've been cooking for more than 30 years, I think that I've gotten a lot better over the last five or so years. I'm cooking more often, experimenting more and taking more risks. This is a perfect book for me, though one that is not read over a day, a week or a year. It will keep me company in the kitchen as I continue my cooking adventures and become a more self assured cook. Very highly recommend.

The more I use this book, the more I love it. Who knew lists of flavors that go with various ingredients would be so much fun?

This book helps me make leftovers not so leftover feeling. What flavors go with those leftover beets? Orange & tarragon? OK, "new" beet dish. It helps me figure out how to use that cabbage that looked so good in the store but I didn't have a recipe in mind for. I just matched a few flavors from the lists.

If you want some direction in inventing your own recipes, this book will help.
