My church book club read this book about a year ago. I did not read it at that time because it had not become available on PBS. I since received it and read it and I loved it! It is a super-fast read that kept me interested all the way through. It didn't get bogged down in unnecessary detail that is irrelevant to the story as so may books do (which make a book much longer than need be). I really like this author's style. It made it very easy and enjoyable to read. I have also read Savannah from Savannah by her and it is also good.

Maybe a year ago I might have loved this book. It just didn't hold my interest. I guess my reading tastes have changed and I now demand more from a book than just a light read. I couldn't get past the first 60 pages, figure out what the story was about, where it was going and couldn't care less. The going back and forth in time as a plot device was annoying. I don't think that I will be reading any of this author's other books.

Nothing in this book's description led me to believe it was full of Christian preachiness. Very disappointing, if I had known, I would not have ordered it. I only finished reading it because by the time I realized the extent of the book's agenda, I was halfway through and since it wasn't AWFUL, it was hard to just abandon (it's just a reading quirk I have, I hate not finishing books I've started unless they are TERRIBLE). This book isn't terrible, but it isn't great, and if preachy Christian books aren't your style, please don't order.
