Another exciting entry in the Molly Murphy mystery series. This book takes us upstate, to a mansion along the Hudson, where a duo of Spiritualist sisters are attempting to contact the dead child of a Senator via seances.

There are additional subplots woven into the story, one which takes you back to the first book where Molly had to flee Ireland. An enjoyable read and I'm anxious to get to the next in this series just find out what happens with Molly, Daniel, Seamus et al.

Once again, Molly is embroiled in solving a crime. This time she has actually been asked by her on again, off again engaged (not to her!)boyfriend, Captain Sullivan of the NYC police, to investigate the claims of 2 female spiritualists who are all the rage in society.
It takes Molly to upstate NY, to the estate of a political candidate whose baby son was kidnapped and killed several years ago.

Whether you are a fan of the series or this is your first encounter with Molly Murphy, you will enjoy the skillful blending of history and fiction set in turn of the century NY.

I happened across this book and it was great. I think this one may be the second one in the series. A young Irish immigrant woman decides she wants to be a detective in early 1900s New York City (era of the gangs of New York like the Hudson Dusters, etc.) She has an on-again, off-again romance with a NYC Police sargeant who sends her on an assignment that he thinks will keep her out of trouble. Instead she runs into some serious business that she has to unravel. She bravely handles it all. A great book!

This fourth Molly Murphy story was a real page-turner! Molly is commissioned by her friend Capt. Daniel Sullivan to attend a seance at a country house on the Hudson River. Molly is posing as an Irish cousin of the man of the house, Sen. Barney Flynn. When she arrives in the countryside though, she finds herself investigating a five-year old kidnapping and a string of myserious deaths. Well-told story!

Molly goes undercover to expose two mediums, but her real goal is to find out what happened to a kidnapped child years before.

Two murders and a meeting with someone she would rather not have met, as well as numerous complications to her love life, make her wish she had stuck to investigating the simple hanky-panky of married lovers.

I'm not sure where this is all heading but it was an interesting read.
