This is the first book I read by Alan Furst. I was pleasantly surpirsed. The book thoroughly holds your attention from beginning to end. Plenty of suspense, and a few good laughs in between. Definitely recommend it.

While not as suspenseful as some of his others in the "Night Soldiers" series, it is still an entertaining yarn. This story is set in the period before WW II begins.

This is an ABRIDGED version of the novel. It is quite a good reading; I'd give it five stars if it were unabridged, but it's not. I had to look very carefully at the sleeve to see the abridged notation.
