I was looking for a book that told me exactly what a forensic nurse does and this one fit the bill nicely. Interesting and not text-bookish at all. I was surprised that a forensic nurse usually works in the ER. Very few cities have full time forensic nurses. They can do rape kits, they document information that could be used in a courtroom and often go to the court cases to testify. It was interesting that a lot of cases are lost because the medical people either cant or wont take time off of work to testify. |

Doesn't suprise me at all.I know on Jury selection for Tot mom a ER nurse had a letter from her work saying she was too critical for her to be off work for a trial.Even those it would only be testifying in the case you mention. Meeting with the defense or Prosecution to go over your testimony would eat up time. Also If they are testifying would they have to be classified expert witness's? I'm sure there might be many reason they would not want to be involved which is sad to say. Last Edited on: 5/11/11 1:43 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |
