I enjoyed this book. Always something
happening to keep my interest. I'd recomend
it for good reading.
Running from an abusive situation and running into a lawman that wants to know what she is hiding makes this book good reading.
Catherine Anderson books are always a winner.
What a wonderful story! This one really tore at my heartstrings...the little girl, Sammy, and the big bad dog, Goliath, were just so enduring. This author tells great stories of special people you can really believe in. I enjoyed every minute and was sorry to see it end.
Very good, liked the intrigue part of it, as well as the romance.
Catherine Anderson is the best at taking everyday situations many bad and turning them into heart warming, tear producing, humor filled stories oflove and healing. I have to reread Catherine about once a year.
I love all of her books and this one one not disappoint.
Fleeing with her four-year-old daughter Sammy after a heated custody battle, Meredith Kenyon moves into a run-down house in Oregon and right next-door to the county sheriff. She hopes that her disguise and a low-profile will keep her off of her father-in-law's radar. Sheriff Heath Masters knows his new neighbor is keeping secrets. Both she and her young daughter seem to be afraid of men. The only male they seem to love is his Rottweiler, Goliath. Heath is drawn to his vulnerable neighbor and hopes she will soon begin to trust him.
This is a contemporary romance featuring a tormented heroine and the sheriff who helps her. But the biggest star of this book is the sheriff's dog, Goliath, who sometimes is much smarter than his human counterparts. He knows young Sammy needs a friend. And he somehow knows she needs protection. He's much quicker at figuring things out than the sheriff.
I liked the story, but thought it was buried in a book with too much inner thought. There was pages and pages of Meredith worrying about being caught. More pages of Heath thinking about what kind of secrets his neighbor is keeping. A little editing could have made a world of difference. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
Great story. This is one I would read again.
You can always count on an entertaining book by Anderson
Another great Catherine Anderson read. She brings love and suspence together to make a good story.
A woman on the run ..... Meredith Kenyon has no choice but to escape the clutches of her abusive late husband's manipulative father. She transforms herself into a small-town mom and, together with her young daughter, settles in rural Oregon ...right next door to the town sheriff. And from the moment he sees her, he realizes she's running from the past and must prove he can protect her .... now and forever.
I love the interaction between the daughter and the sheriff's dog. Excellent book .... real life characters ..... excitement .... and several tears.
This book was truly enjoyable!!! And I would definitely look for other books by this author.
A protective, heroic Rottweiler, a fugitive mother and child, and a savvy country sheriff come together in a sensitive story of abuse, pursuit, and renewal. Anderson gives the old custody-battle plot an unusual twist as she infuses it with her compassionate, emotionally involving brand of literary magic. Heartwarming humor, beautifully handled sexual tension, and exceptionally well-developed characters add to this poignant, compelling story. Noted especially for her portrayal of wounded protagonists and their ultimate healing through the power of love,
A love story about new beginnings and sacrifices. The hero is willing to give up everything for the woman he loves, because he believes in her and her daughter. Meredith is on the run from an abusive ex-husband and the handsome sheriff gets right in the middle of her tumultuous life. I laughed and cried and was very sad to see it end.
Typical Catherine Anderson - woman overcomes obstacles, wins true love. Easy reading.

But though his romantic gestures are met with suspicion, Heath can't help but be drawn to his vulnerable new neighbor. He doesn't entirely trust her, but he sure does want to kiss her.

Fleeing across America, she ran straight into the arms of the lonely lawman. Heath's persistence melts her misgivings, making her wonder if she could overcome her traumatic former life.
