This final entry in Haldeman's future-war trilogy returns to the characters and universe created in "The Forever War". In this volume, the time-displaced veterans of a long-ago war decide to strike out again for the unknown, only to find there are forces at work which will make their journey a far different one than envisioned.

A very different view of "why are we here?" More out there than The Forever War but still a good read.
