Meet Forrest Gump, the lovable, hurculean, and surprisingly savy hero of this remarkable comic odyssey. After accidentally becoming the star of Univerity of Alabama's football team, Forrest goes on to become a Vietnam War hero, a worl-class Ping-Pong player, a villainous wrestler, and a business tycoon -- as he wonders with cildlike wisdome at the insanity all around him. In between misadentures, he manages to compare battle scars with Lyndon Johnson, discover the truth about Richard Nixon, and survive the ups and downs of remaining true to his only love, Jenny, on an extraordinary journey through three decades of the American cultural landscape. Forrest gump has one heck of a story to tell -- and you've got to read it to believe it....

"Bein a idiot is no box of chocolates," but"at least I ain't led no hum-drum life,"says Forrest Gump, the lovable, suprisingly savvy hero of this wonderful comic novel. When the University of Alabama's football team drafts Forrest and makes him a star, that's only the beginning! He flunks out-and goes on to be a Vietnam war hero, a world-class ping-pong player, a wrestler, and a business tycoon. He compares battle scars with Lyndon Johnson, discovers the truth andbout Richard Nixon, and suffers the ups and downs of true love. Now, Forrest Gump is telling all-in a madcap, screwball romp trough three decades of the American landscape. It's Gump's amazing travels..and you've got to read them to believe them.

I personally didn't like the book nearly as much as the movie. There were stories in here that weren't explored in the movie and just seem so far "out-there" it's hard to keep going.... for me! Forrest is an Astronaut, he lives with Jenny for quite some time - he's a wrestler! It's an interesting deviation, but not quite my style!

"Bein' an idiot is no box of chocolates." But this fun book, read by the author, is almost as good as chocolate.
