I read this book after reading the Chronicles of Prydain series ... and it was like watching the deleted scenes for a movie. It was interesting to know the little facts about the characters, but not necessary. This book does stand alone as a nice read of 8 short stories, without reading the Chronicles of Prydian.

Fun reading some of those loose ends you've wondered about since you read Alexander's Prydain series.

Several stories about the characters we made friends with inthe Prydain series.

A wonderful, though short, collection of short stories from Lloyd Alexander's fantastical world of Prydain. Each of these stories is set in times previous to the "Chronicles of Prydain," and answers questions that the books leave. Whether you wish to know the origins of Dallben or the history of the sword Dyrnwyn, if you're a newcomer to Prydain or an old friend, I highly recommend this book.

A nice, easy read that gives great insight to some of the minor characters presented in the Prydain chronicles. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the series.
