I went to Comic-Con for the first time this year and, as I was advised by several people, I stopped by the freebie table on the main floor. I was able to pick up a free copy of a book on the table. I thought it was an ARC because of the odd cover that looked incomplete somehow.

But, looking it over, I realized it's not an ARC. It is labled as being a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher. It says this both on the front and on the back. It has an ISBN # and it's advertising the release of the fourth book in the series, so I know that it's not an ARC but it's also not the same copy being sold in bookstores.

Is this postable? By all accounts, it's not an ARC but it tricked me so I'm a bit worried about sending it out and the requestor thinking I sent them an ARC and mark it RWAP.

Yes, the Team has said that complimentary copies of complete books are postable. That's not to say the you won't run into a receiver who thinks its an ARC and marks it RWAP, but you would not have to return a credit and could just send them to the Team for clarification.

I have found that most of my complimentary books had ISBNs different from the regularly released book so the system always showed the cover clearly marked so I've never had any problems.

Melanie > I checked the ISBN on PBS and it led to the real book with the real cover. But I guess I'll just post it and hope the person doesn't mark it RWAP. At least I'll be able to say that I know it's not an ARC and that it is postable.
