So, I was a French major.  I now no longer do anything that requires me to speak French.  However, I have a gazillion French classics from my college days that were all printed in France and have ISBNs and I want to post them.  However, a bunch of them are leading to a message along the lines of -- sorry, that's a real ISBN but it's not in our database.  Grr.  I think the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask -- besides posting then in the Book Bazzar and in the Foreign Language genre forum, is there anyway for me to list them on PBS (I'm not doing it by hand; it's like 20 books)?

If they are not in the system and you do not want to enter them, then no, there is no way to get them listed on PBS other than the bazaar. The site mines its data from other sources, most do not include foreign printing.

Usually, that screen should lead to an input screen that allows you to enter the book into the system using the ISBN. It really is pretty quick and painless to set up books in the system. Maybe do 3 of 4 a day and they will all be posted in a week.

However, you might check them again in a day.  The site appears to pull data from Amazon when given an ISBN it doesn't recognize, but not immediately (or not always immediately).

Is there a way to "force" the system to recognize an ISBN?  I have several books with vaild ISBN numbers, but when I try to post by ISBN, the ISBN box stays white (doesn't turn green) and I don't get the screen to fill in the information.  If I try to post it to my TBR pile, I get the same message that Purvi gets--that it's a valid ISBN and not in the system.  How can I enter the information for that ISBN if I can't get to the ISBN information screen?  I don't mind entering it, but don't know how else to get to that screen.

Sheryl -- you can click on the "no ISBN" link on the same screen where you are posting the book -- it's on the lower right side, under the little UPC diagram.  It will take you to a form where you can enter info about the book.

Yes, I know how to enter a book without an ISBN...I have many books on my shelf that were posted that way.  I'm wondering if there's a way to manually enter an ISBN and its accompanying information into the database, since these books do in fact have a valid ISBN that just so happens not to be in the PBS database.
