I have a WL situation that is really frustrating me.  I have been #1 on the WL for Lionheart by Penman since Feb.  In fact when I first tried to put it on my WL it did not come up in the system.  I had to try for a couple of days, so I know I was first.  The publish date was 10/04/11.  I know it has been posted al least 4 times (I've been watching the last posted date) yet it has never posted to me.  The last time was 11/03.  What I think has happened is it's been posted directly to someone's WL.  I do that too sometimes, so I can't complain.  I just want the damn book!

Understand that completely, Donna. Linda & I struggled a little at first with the ethics of posting directly to a person's WL because it seemed to fly in the face of the basic tenet of adding a book to a wishlist in the first place.

But, obviously, we came to grips with that little nagging voice. When we post to a specific WL, we are giving a book to a friend; which is exactly what we would prefer to do "in real life" and it is entirely permitted by PBS ... so who are we to argue ... especially when books get posted directly to us and we are THRILLED !!

However ... when it's not working out our way - as is your case w/ Lionheart, it is certainly frustrating ...

In sympathy,

Kelly

That seems to be the case, Donna.  I am sorry your frustrated, like Kelly and Linda I struggle with;  "Do I post it to FIFO or do I offer it in here first?"  I am always relieved that when I post a wish list book it goes to one of the H/F friends.

LOL  Bonnie,  You always send them back so this doesn't change our arrangement.

The first thing that came to my mind Donna was what Bonnie pointed out - the Gold Key issue! That is going to wreak havoc with a lot of WLs! If I have a book on my WL that I really am dying to get and I get passed by often enough, I just check with the library or I buy the darn thing!

BTW, have you all checked out the book site "Better World Books"? They have new and used with free shipping on both. I've found books there that I couldn't even find at Book Depository! yes

Hey...Bonnie & Letty...what do I need to do to get in this "arrangement" of yours??? I'm not above bribery or blackmail.

Donna -- sorry for your frustration. I wish I had the fortitude to send out my book, but SKP is a keeper (unfortunately, most of my books are keepers which is why my bookshelves are bulging and numerous stacks of books decorate my house). Hope you receive the book soon.

Penman is a keeper for me as well, although mine was an ARC (and rather poorly glued), so I passed that along to she-who-will-not-be-named. I don't understand the Gold Key bit yet, but I do try to mention books I'm going to post here, and if I have a book I'm posting I know is on a friend's WL I'll post it to them.

Deb, As Bonnie was a H/F newbie I lent her some books just to show her what she was missing.

Bribery!!   Blackmail!   I thought this was for virginal, nunlike girls only!

And yes, I am already experiencing gold key WL books coming my way.  I don't really know that I got a book before someone else, but I did see that on a couple of WL offers this week to me.
