I truly enjoyed reading this book. I found myself in many places of this book in attitude, mannerism, and spriit. Offering a godly look at forgiveness and acceptance, this book is a great read!
A lovely story, one that I couldn't help but read right away. This is the story of a woman growing up and facing her past. She also faces the future in the guise of extended time with her daughter.
This is more serious than Gunn's Sisterchick series, and very worthwhile.
A wonderful story. One that I will read again and again. About the bonds of family and the connection between a granddaughter and grandmother. Delightful.
Good story in the Women of Faith series. Mother/Daughter relationship story told as they travel and learn about each other and family history.
Robin Jones Gunn always weaves a great story--this one isn't a romance but about the connections of women in a family.
Another wonderful Robin Jones Gunn book. This takes place in the South and is a heartwarming generation spanning book about relationships between women. Great Christian author.
This book chronicles the journey, both spiritual and literal, of a mother and daughter across America. A great read for anyone!
This is a story about family ties, healing and forgiveness.
Great book! Very inspirational and thought-provoking, particularly for those of us with daughters. :)
Another great read from RJG, author of the popular Sisterchicks and Glenbrooke series! I hate to let this one go, actually.
A great read! Couldn't put it down!
Great christian value based story
excellent very well written
Wonderful story about relationships between mothers and daughter, carried down through generations.
Abby fondly remembers summers spent with her "Grand Lady" and wants the same for her daughter. So, traveling from Hawaii to Louisiana, her hopes are high that her daughter might be "touched by the beauty of her 92-year old Grand Lady's stories before it's too late".
But when Hannah finally does spend time with Gran Lady, the old woman crushes her tender spirit. And a mother-daughter journey home becomes an adventure of discovery-about the importance of family and the healing found in forgiveness.
An absolutely wonderful book!
I read this book because it was recommended by Women of Faith. Yet, I had a hard time getting into it and really relating to the characters. It was only ok for me - nothing I would want to pick up and read a second time.
This book is a lovely story of a road trip between a mother & her very wise 12 yr. old. The story is filled with lots of wisdom for mother-daughter relationships of any age. Love is a choice & the book shows how one can choose to love the most unlovable relative. This is a book about women, for women. I highly recommend it.
Everybody has a story. You listen to that story, Honegirl, and your story will come find you. Her Grand Lady spoke these words when Abby was just a girl spending the summer in rural Louisiana, surrounded by extended, loving family. She's been listening carefully ever since.
Now Abby is raising her own family thousands of miles away. And even though Hawaii might seem like paradise to some, it's a long way away from those idyllic days she remembers, siting with her grandmother. So Abby has just one wish: that her daughter, Hannah, might be touched by the beauty of ther 92 year old Grand Lady's stories before it's too late.
