and they both died within a month...they were 2 years old and should have lived 10 more years. She said they were just dead one morning...well did she feed them?!! Sorry but 2 perfectly healthy birds should not fall over dead with in 4 weeks of being adopted out. ARGH!! I am so angry...and at me for letting them go live there

sad

deborah, it's awful when something happens to a pet you've adopted out. I'm so sorry you had to go through this.

but don't blame yourself, just learn from the experience by rehashing what could have been done differently (if anything) and preventing the situation the next time. I've worked in rescue a long time, and unfortunately there is no guarantee no matter how much talking and research you do on the person that they will take good care of the animals in the long run.

with both birds dying at the same time I'm wondering if maybe something airborne got to them - remember the teflon pan issue. or perhaps bad feed - unfortunately you won't know for sure unless you opt for a necropsy.

she just forgot to feed them and i had giveb her 6 months of feed with them too. When she gave them back...the cage had no food and only some sludge for water...it was neglect.

That is so sad :(.  Why did she want them in the frist place if she did not want to take care of them?  It makes me mad I lost my bird almost 2 years ago and Still can't get another because I keep thinking of him.
