I was looking through the Forums where books are listed by genre.  I saw a Crafts section, but nothing for Art books.  Or do art books get posted in Crafts?

There is a genre called "Arts & Photography", there's just no discussion forum for it. You don't need a forum to swap books in any genre, the forums are just for people who like to talk to each other about that genre. Could be that there aren't too many people wanting to discuss art books?

That's entirely possible.  Maybe they're all out there drawing and taking pictures instead of looking through the forums.  : )

Seriously, though...I've been through a couple of searches and I noticed there are a lot of art books with at least 3 or more ppl on a wishing list for them.  Seems like someone would be interested in chat, same as other genres.  Or, I guess maybe I'm the oddball...

Why not try in Hidden Gems?

You could write to the Admin Team and ask them to consider setting up an Arts or Arts and Music forum.  If they've heard from other people too, you might be in luck.  To contact them, go to the bottom right corner of any page, and under "company" click on "contact us."  Use the Feedback option.

Thanks to all for the quick replies with suggestions and help.  I sent a message to the Admin Team, have been looking around in Hidden Gems.  Unfortunately, it seems demand is way ahead of supply in the Art section.  I've posted four different art books that have been snapped up as fast as I list them - within the hour, even.  But finding titles is a different story...

I have some unpostables I'd be willing to unload, and I'm also hoping to just find some art-minded peoples to chat with.  Have to be some of those folks here, or that genre wouldn't be so full of wishers.

I think that the demand will always be higher because art books are "keeper shelf" items. Once you swap them I doubt you'll see them again.

You're probably right about that.  I have a lot of books in that genre that I will probably never let go of.  It's only when i run out of room on my physical shelves or I get an updated version of a book I already own that I feel obliged to part with something.  Such was the case when I joined; I had an earlier issue of a book on animation, posted it here when I got the updated one.  It was claimed almost immediately.

I got an email today from the Admin Team.  They used to have a forum for the Art genre but it was removed because it hardly ever got used.  Oh well.  I guess I could list my unpostables and photo magazine collection elsewhere, right?

You can list your unpostable books for swapping in the Book Bazaar Forum. That's really where offers or shelf advertising is supposed to go anyway. The genre forums are mainly for discussion.  In a genre that has a limited supply the books should go pretty quickly in the Bazaar.  Magazines can be offered as freebies with other requests in the Bazaar, but they can't be swapped for credits on PBS.

Some of the Genre forums really don't get a lot of traffic. I am sure they'd love to have more if people would use them, but most of the chatting goes on in CMT I think.
