Beautiful story of a young woman with high expectations of her own life that don't include being "the typical kept woman" of her times. She finds employment as a governess for a young man and his much younger sister, whom he is left in charge with when their father dies, leaving them without family. The changes she makes in their life, the lives around her and of her very own life are amazing as she becomes a woman of full bloom. All of which happens as she falls in love with a man she cannot possibly have.
