Geoff Dyer (born June 5, 1958) is a British author. Educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, he lives in London. He won the Somerset Maugham Award in 1992 for his book But Beautiful. His book Out of Sheer Rage was a finalist for the 1998 National Book Critics Circle Award in the criticism category. He has contributed articles to The Guardian, The Independent, New Statesman, Esquire, Wallpaper*, Monocle, and The New York Times.
In 2009, he donated the short story Playing with ... to Oxfam's Ox-Tales project, four collections of UK stories written by 38 authors. Dyer's story was published in the 'Fire' collection.
