This book was fabulous! The writing is witty and fun, the stories are fast paced and interesting, and the contrasts between the countries is remarkable. I'd recommend Bliss to anyone interested in travel or culture. It makes you wonder whether the people of an area make the personality or if the personality of the area makes the people?

This book was a fun read. I couldn't wait to read where the author was going next and what he was learning from the people and the environment. He travels all over the world, making interesting observations about the communities. While happiness is a very subjective thing to measure, his descriptions give you a strong sense of how happy or unhappy the people he encounters truly are--regardless of how happy they describe themselves to be.

Funny and semi-profound. The author visits 10 countries (The Netherlands, Switzerland, Bhutan, Qatar, Iceland, Moldova, Thailand, Great Britain, India, and the US), ostemsibly searching for what makes people happy, but really writing an amusing travelogue.
