I had to laugh, I was just browsing at Amazon, and came upon A Dance With Dragons in my recommendations list. They must be fed up with his constant delays to get it ready for publication, because I see they now have moved their previous 'release date' from October of this year to "April 30, 2013." ROFL! I guess they figure they'll be safe estimating that far ahead!

Cheryl (who hopes it's really not THAT long!)

Heck, the book hasn't even been turned into his publisher yet.

I know...I was a bit aghast when different book sites started listing the October 08 date as the release date...I keep a fairly close eye on his own website/blog and there hasn't been an update about the book there in quite awhile! I do wish he'd hurry, though. LOL

I have a great icon for one of my journals that reads "every time you ask "is it done yet" g.r.r.m kills a Stark". That being said, "Is it done yet?" ;)

LOL, Rebecca! If that's the case, the Starks must be extinct by now, I'm sure! :)

Martin has a page on his website that he says will be updated as soon as the book is finished. You can find it here.

I agree with Spuddie -- they probably are just putting in a "safe" date. I hope it won't take that long!

:) I'd rather wait and have it be what he wants it to be rather than "deadline" good.

I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday, and saw the first books of the series on the sale table. (Buy any of the first three, get Feast for Crows free--ha!) All lined up together. I was very surprised; I guess we may have to wait until 2013. I hope that it is good, but I think Mr. G.R.R.M. ought to exercise a little discipline and meet a deadline every once and a while.

Ha!  I was just on fantasticfiction the other day and it shows the forthcoming book: April 2008.  Uh, OK.

What's aggravating is that he seems (from his blog) to be working productively on other stuff.  Argh!  I love this series, but hesitate to recommend it because of the agonizing wait!

Got a Barnes & Noble email today with his name in it and got overly excited thinking that FINALLY this book might be coming out but nope, it's yet another different book...no wonder he isn't finishing that series if he keeps concentrating on other stuff. *impatient* :)

I've noticed he seems to be very defensive about deadlines.

I saw on his blog a post with the title "Huge, Huge News", and I started to get excited.  But it's not about the next book.  It's about A Game of Thrones coming to HBO.  http://grrm.livejournal.com/58155.html

That is neat, but I just want the next book, darn it!
