I really liked the series.  Been waiting forever for A Dance With Dragons to come out.  His books never come out on time.  The last one was somewhat disappointing because I was waiting to find out what happened to major characters and the entire book concentrated on minor characters.

Oh crap! Don't tell me I need to get HBO? LOL

I do wish he'd get his poop in a group and get A Dance With Dragons done...it's really just ridiculous.

I won't sign up for HBO just to see this, but I will definitely check it out when it comes to DVD.  I'm really interested in it, even though I couldn't make it beyond the first book in the series.  I like George R. R. Martin's writing, but I guess I just don't have the patience for epic series of 800+ page books with vast casts of characters.  I think I might be able to get my brain around it easier in its adapted format.

I was under the impression that he was writing the book series so slowly that he had, in reality, dropped it, lost interest, etc, etc?

He has, in fact, not lost interest in it. Check his journal.

WOW---I just loved the book series, and am among those impatient for the next one.

But I can hardly imagine how they can get this on film, unless everything is computerized, which I guess is what's done now anyway. Given the scope and the characters, it would be unbelievably expensive to produce and retain any semblance to the concept.

I just finsihed with the novel, and now I am very much looking forward to the show.

I'm not too worried about them pulling this off Betty.  If they can do Rome they can do this.
