As a teacher, this novel motivated many non-readers in my fifth grade class. Woodruff does a wonderful job of weaving historical facts with the fantasy children love. All of the characters seem true to life and readers feel as they are also walking along with George Washington. When encountering past students, they do remember the novel as their favorite. I highly recommend this for reluctant and avid readers alike!!

I've always been fasinated by time-travel and history so these kids' accidental trip to Colonial America is great.
They land right smack in the middle of the Delaware River and who should come by.......George Washington himself. Very accurate account so I wouldn't recommend it for younger kids. Perfect for 9-12 year old book- reading adventure lovers!
