Hello everyone!

I have noticed several times now that I am getting bumped back on my wish lists.  One example is very recent.  Yesterday, on one of the books on my WL I was 7 out of 8.  Today it says someone's wish was granted, but I am now 8 out of 8.  this has happened several times, many times without having a book be posted.  I am just inexplicably bumped back, usually to the last place on the list.  Is there an explanation for this?  I receive no notifications that something happened, I just login and see that the order has changed.

Another very frustrating instance, there was a book I had been waiting for for a year.  I was 1 out of 2.  A couple of days ago I logged in and checked my WL to see if anything new had happened, and I saw that I was now 2 out of 2.  The next day the book was posted.  The second person had just wished the book about a week ago, so this was very frustrating as I had been waiting for a year.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Thanks!

Hi Sarah - See below the answer from the Help Docs.

Why did I move *backward* on my Wish List?

This happens when another member who was "ahead of you" in line previously (and who got an offer of the book already) gets back into line, for one of several reasons:

  • The member's Wish List book never arrived, and was declared lost in the mail
  • The member's Wish List transaction was canceled by the sender
  • The member had had her account on hold, and has now returned from vacation and unHeld her account. She will go back into line at her previous position when she does this: if she was "ahead of you" before, you will move back a space.

Please be assured that we would NEVER put another member ahead on the Wish List without good cause--in order to go ahead of others on the Wish List, a member MUST have Wish Listed that item earlier (on an earlier date) than they did.

hope this helps.

Edited: Guess your question was simultaneously answered. smiley

That second person was probably in front of you all along and jsut had it on hold.  When they came off hold you were put int 2nd place.  I have books on my WL that I"ve had on hold for probably a year now. For most of them I'm not near the top so I just haven 't bothered to take them off hold. For a few it's because I'm at the top but I'm not ready for them and so they might as well go to someone else for now.
