Ever had this happen?   This book order 'appeared' on my acct page and deducted a credit from my acct.  I have never heard of it, never had it on WL, and wasn't even on the computer at the time it was ordered!

I've never had an order manifest itself, but several books have magically "appeared" on my wish list. I know I didn't put them there because they were authors I either never heard of or do not like.

That's weird, I wonder why the site glitches like that?

That's a new one I've never heard of. The only out of the ordinary things I've ever had happen was getting a request for a book that had already been requested and sent and no longer on my bookshelf -- that's happened perhaps 3 times in 8+ years.

Was the book on your wish list? It currently has 0 wishers, but if you were the last person wishing for it and you had it on auto-request, that could definitely cause this.

Weird!  Have you had any guests that could have got on your computer/tablet?   It is probably just a glitch but I think I would change my password just in case.

The only time I've had a book get "mysteriously" on my WL I sent in Feedback and they were able to tell me exactly when I put it on my WL cheeky

I recently got an email saying I was getting a book on my wishlist (my list is on auto accept).  The next email, sent about 1 min. later, said the order was cancelled.  As far as I  knew I was #2 or 3 on the list.  Checked the site and found the reason cancelled was something like "Tried to stop it but RC button wouldn't work and I live in a smoking home".  That was interesting since I have no RC's, about smoking or anything else on my acct.  I decided I didn't care since I thought I was #2 or 3 anyway.  I was back to 2 of 2 on the list now.  A couple days later I was 3 of 3 and according to my wishlist, the last time that book was posted was June of 2014!  Major glitch somewhere  . . .

That one's easy to explain Roxanne. The person in front of you in line has requester conditions that say "no smoking" and the sender is totally confused about how requests flow through the system. She posted the book, saw the "no smoking" condition, clicked that the book did not meet conditions and then saw that the request was still on her My Account page. She had no idea that the request had actually been passed along to you and thought it was the same person, so she clicked Cannot Mail and wrote the thing about "tried to stop it..."

Once she clicked Cannot Mail, her book was removed from the system and it won't show as having been posted at all, so the "last posted" date went back to previous copy that was posted in June 2014. The system has always worked this way, and it is a bit confusing.

Then you went backwards in line due to one of the several reasons that can happen (someone comes off vacation hold, a book gets lost in the mail ...)

Thanks Cathy!  I know all about people coming back off hold, but your explanation takes the mystery out of why the sender thought I had RC's and why the date returned to June 2014.  Since I didn't expect the book, I'm quite happy with my place in line and appreciate your taking time to explain.

I have read a few of Andrews' books a year and more ago-- know it wasn't on my WL cause I had just reviewed my WL to see how close I was getting on all of them.....

I have under 200 total on my WL-- many of those are YA books for my 18 yo or drama class books for my daughter who teaches HS drama and I usually add many of all the available editions for one title so may have 10 or more versions on my WL which leaves quite a few less unique titles to remember.

Now, Sally's glitch, yeah, I too have had that happen at least 3 times in as many years......all the info was in my transaction log so could prove it wasn't anything I did.    But this is just.........weird.   Book was marked mailed before I even knew it had been 'ordered' so couldn't even stop it.

oh, and no one is in house with me except hubby who does not have my password to sign me into PBS.
