These are the questions that confront psychic investigator David Ash when he delves into the mysterious events terrorizing the community of Sleath, a small, quaint village hidden away in the Chiltern Hills. Another good read from Herbert.
An okay read, but ultimately not satisfying. Starts out well, then goes off the tracks about 2/3rds of the way through, including long passages that have nothing to do with the main story; the solution to the hauntings is fairly hackneyed, as well.
