El Muchacho, under the anxious care of family friends, had been traveling in Europe. Whenever word leaked out that a giant was in a city, the civic officials demanded that the "monster" leave at once. But Mr. du Bois met and liked El Muchacho, and decided that secrecy was not the best way to handle the situation. So with the help of a band that played the samba, and the natural niceness of people when they're told what's going on, the friendly young giant found a city that welcomed him.
