I wanted a new book cover because I'm tired of always having to switch books out. So today I open a lovely cloth one, with constellations on it.

me: "Oh cool, it's got my astrological sign right in the middle!"

husband: "That was on purpose."

me: "You had them make it special?"

husband: "I made it."

!!! Best husband ever!

(It's got his and my son's signs on the inside, too. :-) )

Great gift!  That's so great that he'd actually make it for you.

He also gave me Lush "dream cream" for my horribly dry hands. Plus everything I had mentioned I wanted. Best husband evah!

C'mon, didn't anyone else score anything good? ;-)

aww!  super sweet present.

C'mon, didn't anyone else score anything good? ;-)

DH got me books. :) a couple of older trade paperbacks that are books 2 and 3 in a trilogy where i *finally* found book 1 at the UBS after years and didn't want to wait that long for the rest of it, plus a new mmp from an author that DH hates but knows i love. [i did make sure my amazon wishlist was filled with good stuff unlikely to come up here anytime soon.] oh, and cookies! i got a gift certificate for Pacific Cookie Company that they'll treat as a punchcard for a baker's dozen, so when i go downtown on fridays i can get myself one of their macadamia nut & chocolate chip cookies. love those.

and a nice check from the inlaws where half will go to pay dues for an online site, and the other half - well, probably more books. ;) or maybe i should set it aside as postage money for here - which is still kind of books.

As usual, my best gifts were the ones I got myself.  Books to read and a Sony ereader.  Well, the ereader was bought mainly with a gift card from work.  Bonus for my 15 years there.

I'm still debating on keeping the Polaroid photo printer I got.  It only prints 2x3 and probably Polaroid quality.  I've read mixed online reviews on it.

My DH and I don't exchange gifts for Xmas, Birthdays, anniversary etc.  Instead we take cruises.  Just got back a week ago from a 2 week Panama Canal Cruise - it was fantastic.  Every night we have a before dinner drink, watch the sunset together and toast to a birthday,  valentines day, mother's day etc (you get the idea).  We decided to do this about 20 years ago and love it.  Plus as a bonus, we still get to enjoy the holiday together, knowing that we will get to toast to that day on another cruise.  It works for us.

"Can he be cloned?"

If he can, I want them both! ;-)

Speaking of my husband, something just arrived from Amazon, which I'm pretty sure is my birthday present. I'm dying to know what it is!

Can he be cloned?

Lol.  I can't complain about mine & his gifts either.  Nothing handmade - he'd glue his fingers together:P - but he does great gifts.  Always something I wasn't expecting to get, but know he must have been paying attention to notice I wanted or needed it.

That's an awesome gift!

We don't usually exchange gifts, either but this year hubby and kids got me a replacement wedding ring.   After a lot of weigh loss and me thinking "I need to go get this resized "  3 million times, the universe took care of it for me and I lost my orginal  wedding ring 3 years ago.

The new ring is very nice - it looks like it has gems in it but it's just the way it's etched.  Very pretty.

My DH gave me a laptop which I love. I no longer have to fight 2 teens for computer time!

For Chanukkah this year, my husband made me a neckace tree.  Its wooden, round, with 12 hooks to suspend chains or other lightweight necklaces from.  The top spins so I can just wheel it around to find the neckace I'm looking for.  He measured out several of my longer necklaces and there is only one chain that must be double over to hang.  It's beautiful.

Oh, that's nice Amy. I lost my wedding ring *twice* before getting my act together and getting both our rings resized. My wonderful husband went to endless efforts to find it each time, renting a metal detector. (I had been gardening.)

Weirdly enough, just yesterday he realized his ring was gone! Thankfully, he saw it on the floor a few seconds later. His isn't loose but he thinks it must have come off while he was drying his hands.  We were both devastated for a few seconds.

Mine did the replacement ring thing for my B-day a couple of years ago, & it's one of my most memorable gifts from him.  I had stopped wearing my wedding set because I lost weight & was afraid I'd lose my rings too, and then they came up missing.  I still have no idea what happened there...  But we had gone on a second honeymoon to New Orleans back in 1999 and I had seen this gorgeous ring at the Bernard Passman gallery - he's deceased, but made the most gorgeous jewelry from hand-cut black coral & diamonds - and even though I thought we'd never be able to afford it, I registered for this ring, basically on a lark.  DH ended up giving me that ring for my B-day a few years later.  We were at a Halloween party & friends were singing happy birthday to me & he just casually slipped it on my finger.  I thought it was just a plain replacement band at first, and then I saw the sparkle... & almost passed out in the floor when I realized what it was.  Best birthday ever:)

I didn't get a thing from anyone except my mother. But I have bought myself so many books recently, I think that counts.

Such nice gifts, especially Willa and Ani, since they are hand-made!  I can't complain- got almost everything I put on my list.  Mostly kitchen stuff, since I love to cook- got 2 small pans good for making omelettes, a microplaner, a new chef's knife (so I don't have to keep washing the other one).  Also got a laminator- I had an idea for making cool bookmarks so wanted one for that.  I've made a few bookmarks, and they are turning out pretty well!  I have since spent way too much at Michael's getting supplies.  It will be better in the spring when I can press my own flowers- I also got a Microfleur, which is a microwave flower pressing/drying thingie, but at the moment there are no flowers to be found in the northwest, unless you count what they have in the floral section at Safeway (which I don't).  Looks like I'll need to include some flowers when I plan my spring garden!  Can't wait to experiment with my own, rather than what I have to pay way too much for at the craft store!
