Well, it's that time of year when I close the pool and start planning my Gingerbread House. I put it in my towns competition. I'm looking for any books you might have at home collecting dust or maybe on your shelf and I haven't found it yet. Need new ideas!!! Sooo if you have any books on designing or making gingerbread houses please PM me. Thanks CindyM

I saw a gingerbread house that was actually a train advertised once at Macy's. I saved a picture of it cause I thought it was a great idea and would not be that hard to do!

Good idea!! This year I'm doing Santa's village, complete with the polar express and all kinds of shops. I've got it all drawn out and will start baking gingerbread very soon. I'm kinda slow so I need months to finish. Thanks for posting. Wish I could see your picture. CindyM

Cindy,

Have you ever done a Halloween themed gingerbread house?  Perhaps a ghost town or haunted mansion would be fun.

I've seen them in books and I do love them. I stick with the Christmas theme only because I am sooo slow at making them. Also they are very expensive. My houses are pretty big. I've done a church also made with natural looking chocolate rocks. The rocks alone cost $100.00. When I start making a new one, my dinningroom is off limits. This really doesn't bother anyone since they can eat in front of the T.V. This year I'm really going large by making Santa's Village. Many buildings, railroad ect... My son is helping me with the base because I don't want just a flat piece of wood. I need small hills put in. My daughter is a Buffy The Vampire fan and I asked her if she would like to make a dark buffy themed ginger bread house. Told her we could name it: A Very Buffy Christmas. She turned me down. Not many people I know get into Gingerbread unless they want to eat it. Thanks for your interest. I love talking shop as you can see by my long post.
